Health (FSA, HSA, HDHP)
Health FSA (Flexible Spending Account):
- 2023 contribution limit = $3,050, up from $2,850
- Carryover up to $610 into the next plan year (if offered by your employer)
Dependent-Care FSA:
- Limit remains at $5,000 per household (or $2,500 if married filing separately)
High-Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) & HSAs:
- HDHP deductibles for 2023: minimum $1,500 (self), $3,000 (family); max out-of-pocket: $7,500 (self), $15,000 (family)
- HSA contribution limits for 2023: $3,850 (individual) and $7,750 (family), with a $1,000 catch-up if age 55+
Education (Student Loan Interest Deduction)
- You can deduct up to $2,500 of student loan interest (no itemizing required)
- Income Phase-Out (MAGI):
- Single/head-of-household/qualifying spouse: full deduction up to $75K–80K MAGI, phases out between ~$75K–95K, eliminated above ~90K–95K
- Married filing jointly: full up to ~$155K–165K; phases out up to ~$185K–195K.
- If you don’t receive form 1098‑E (for < $600 interest paid), you can still claim it with your own records
